[Newb questions]

Just acquired a Treo Pro after my 800 crapped on me after a couple months. Anywho, I still haven't figured out the Windows OS. I was strictly Palm till the 800.

First thing, I can't seem to download the .cab files off the site. I'm taken to a broken link with tons of encoding? What's the issue. Not too concerned as I can look around the net. I am trying to upgrade my web browser.

Second, I'm accustomed to Palm OS which was simple as far as active sync, installing programs, etc. This seems more complicated. I've tried saving the files to my memory card and install directly from either phone or card memory, however I always get a error on my phone. I'm lost, if I could figure how to get the sync issues in order I'll probably fall in love with the OS.

are you trying to download these .cab files onto your computer? are you using firefox? let the garbled code all load, and do file>save as
change the file type to "all file types" and make sure the file is called {filename}.cab where {filename} is the program name (for a hint it's the name of the webpage)

For Windows Mobile, the easiest way is to install from CAB files on the card. CAB files are like setup.exe for Windows on a PC. You locate them using the File Explorer and just run them. It will install the program automatically.

Also, make sure the CAB file is for Pocket PC and not smartphone (if the program is available in different formats). Windows Mobile smartphone is the standard version, which doesn't use a touchscreen. The version on the Treo is professional, which is pocket PC and does use a touchscreen.
