Alright guys and gals I am a nooby to the palm world about 1 month old I have a Treo 700WX from verizon.I downloaded google maps. Now when I try to make mp3's my ring tones it says critical memory low. So I then delete google maps now i know I can hold the ok button down and it will show the apps running I can stop all them and look at the system memory and it states as follows...total memory  62.95  in use  60.50  free 2.45  for storage and total 57.45 and use 15.41  and free 42.04  for programs  so if anyone can help me it would be appreciated....

It sounds like a lot of data stored on the phone. One thing to start looking at is the Google Maps installation, did you delete or uninstall it using the WM5 Remove Programs application? If you simply deleted the program file there may still be a big trail of Google Map data files left behind. If deleted instead of uninstalled, you should reinstall Google Maps then use Remove Programs to eliminate the program and data associated with it (Start\Settings\System\Remove Programs).

In any case, you may want to search your phone's memory for Google Map files and delete unwanted files using File Explorer. Good luck and keep us posted.

I use a program called Memmaid. It clears all files when you click on it, internet, emails, ect.
When I first got my phone there were 2 things that would cause my memory to get low. First is ringtones. Just make sure you are only using portions of the song, I use 15-20 seconds usually. Before I would just save a full song & thats way too much memory & you never hear the whole song anyway.
Second is the internet. It saves cookies everytime you use it. 2 ways I found to clear. get a program like memmaid & run it when it gets low. or you can do it manual, go into file explorer, click windows, click profiles, click guest, click temp internet files, click Content.IE5, then go into each folder & delete all files. that should give you a lot of memory back.
hope this helps

Duchee- thanks for the tips even though they are old.  I deleted the files in temp internet and that freed 20 MB on my 700w which was critically low.  Thanks
