« Should you replace your voicemail with YouMail? | Let's talk Palm »
Part 1
Part 2
Could your phone save your life? Perhaps it could if you have MyRapidMD. I recently spoke to Damien Vallernaud, Chief Operating Officer of MyRapidMD, at CTIA. Not only can you keep your up-to-date medical history where first responders can find it, but right now you can get a free lifetime subscription....
Just go to myrapidmd.com and at checkout, enter the code MRMD08CES. Skip the credit card information, and following the reminder to fill it in after clicking on continue, you'll be told this is a free subscription and no credit card information is needed at this time.
But before you take the few short minutes to fill in your information, listen to Damien explain what the company is doing, and how this service really can be a life saver.
I believe the most meaningful drawback to MRMD is that you need to install java on your Palm os device to use it. Hopefully, there will be a non-java version in the not too distant future, or perhaps java will be written into the next version of the Palm OS. But even without having the information instantly available on your phone, having it available to emergency personnel is a great idea.

Alli, this is a great review of a service that appeals to me greatly! As a nurse, I'm always looking for ways to make my Palm device work for me, and this is a fantastic addition to my "ICE" entry in my contacts and my Word Doc medical history in Docs to Go!
How many more reviews you got hiding up your sleeve??? %^P

I've been trying to make this work! Having a few medical issues, as well as taking a lot of meds it seems like a great idea!..... but.... (always seems to be one)... I can't get the info to "stay".. i enter it.. I save it.. I send it to my phone... and all that's there is my picture, name and birthdate. I've let them know.. waiting to hear back from them.

Liz, when I talked to Damien at CTIA I mentioned that you (specifically) would love this.

Not to be a bother but I'm a first responder and we don't make it a practice to search through someone's phone to look for information we leave that to the Police. If you have known medical problems the best thing to do is get a medical bracelet which we do check for. Best place for it is on your wrist or wear it around your neck.

This is a great piece of software indeed. Inorder to target large no of mobile phones they probably brought a java version.
